From my standpoint, I would feel I was being very paranoid, but my life is not like a SEAL. However, the information he gives is very, very helpful and will help in the future. I had heard the author on the radio, and thought this would be a great book for my adult sons. All of them live in places with inclement weather, and all of them like outdoor activities. I thought that the book would cover situations like getting stuck in a show bank overnight, but the book covers ALL survival scenarios--at least, all that I can think of--and many more. One is "Never Hesitate to Ask Questions That Could Save Your Life"--It's a paragraph long, but the salient point is--"Don't let the fear of what others think of you become an impediment to survival." Hmmmm....think 9-11 when people stayed in the buildings because they were told to.The info in this book is so current that the author addresses the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster and mall shootings.The Table of contents is in alphabetical order by incident, and therefore serves as a quick & easy index! If I'm involved in the middle of a biochemical attack, I want to be able to quickly look up some practical tips. Of course, I'll be carrying my Seal Survival Guide with me! Grandma's got you covered.Buy it. Put it in the bathroom. Learn it. Live.

The author took what could have been a dull subject and made it into very easy reading. While the central point invariably returns to situational awareness, there are many good, and potentially life saving, tips for average folks. Since no one knows when a dangerous event may pop up, it seems only sensible to learn the best way to handle, at least, some of the more common ones.

This book is like a survival bible. It addresses most adverse situations a person might encounter throughout his or her life. The author then goes on to recommend one or more solutions that are most likely to keep (& anyone with you) alive & pointed in a right direction to get safely out of, or away from, the adversity. There is much, much more expert advice included. A great read & a book you’ll want to keep handy.

The book is well written. The author tries to cover almost every single survival situation. I learned a lot about topics and situations I hope I will never experience. Even dog bites and attacks are described. Some situations are described in great detail. Some are a bit shallow but they are not that critical in my opinion. Definitely worth the read.I only wish I had bought the hard cover version in order to hit a potential attacker in the throat as he suggests in the book.

Well written how not to get your self dead book. The author covers many survival subjects and makes some great suggestions. Even if you are not the physical specimen of a Navy Seal there is information that you can and should use. Most of what is offered is common sense which many in our society is lacking in an age that could kill you if you are not paying attention. This book brings focus as to what we should be paying attention to. Can you survive an active shooter in a mall? This book increases you chances in that scenario and many others.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance. The characters are interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.

Alex breaks up with mic after a terrible misunderstanding when 5 years passed she never imagined seeing that same man as her boss. Will their feelings still be there?

I always was a suckered for 2nd chances. To me this an 'awwww', book, you know boy dumps girl, girl discovers she's pregnant, can't find boy, misunderstandings, 5 years later they meet again, still attracted to each other. She has a child now, he's regretting his decisions. 5 stars, a good read

Michaela really had the raw end of the relationship deal here. Being dumped by the love of her life by text right after her parent’s tragic death was devastating in itself. But being blocked and ghosted and unable to contact Alex about her pregnancy kind of pushed him into the bonehead category for me.I live second Chance romances, but never understood why these couples never seem to be honest about the first breakup before plunging into a new relationship with each other. If Alex and Michaela were able to talk about their initial painful breakup five years ago, so much would have been resolved. I know it added to the drama of this storyline, but I thought it dragged on way too long.I also felt that Alex was very unwilling to take equal responsibility in the problems they had in their relationship. I think my empathy lay with Michaela as she had to go on, raise AJ as a single parent, get her degree, and earn a living for them both.Kudos for the author in pulling it all together for a satisfying HEA, but it never sat quite right with me on the way Michaela was treated despite being such a great mom to AJ.I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

This book started off great! I was so excited with the premise of the book and really loved the start. Unfortunately, the book dragged horribly. First there, is only so much of the same subject matter a reader can handle. In my opinion, this story could have ended at about 50%. Secondly, the actions of the 2-main characters escalating so quickly and so passionately after their past also doesn't make for believably. I continued reading the story, only on premise, but ended up after about 50% skimming through the final chapters. I had high hopes for the book, but was truly let down.

The good, the bad, secrets, bad people and that sweet little boy made the emotional ride completely worth it. Then bonus we get some really good sex scenes...especially the sundae sex!!! Michaela thought he didn't want anything to do with her and their baby. Alex doesn't know he is a father. But looking at her makes him want to try again. But will he be able to forgive her for keeping such a secret from him? And will these two be able to work through their misconceptions and insecurities? Sure, I like it, and I was excited when I saw the news that Tahereh Mafi was planning on releasing (3?) new books in the series, but I wasn’t excited to the point of being over the moon about the new additions.It’s been a while since I have read the original three books in this series, and at some point (hopefully soon) I need to go back and give them a reread to see if my opinions on each book has changed. I really loved the third book in the series, Ignite Me (BECAUSE, WARNETTE) but from what I can remember, I thought the first book was just okay, while I had a hard time making it through Unravel Me, the second book in the series.But there is one thing I have loved about each of the books in the series, despite any negative opinions I may have had, and that is Tahereh’s beautiful writing style. Her writing is just so unique, and it is that very reason that I continued reading this series, despite the fact that I wasn’t captivated by the plot of the first book.Restore Me follows the aftermath of the events of Ignite Me, and shit gets real.I loved everything about this book. The plot. The character development. The Writing.It was so interesting to see how Juliette, a 17 year old, would handle all the power suddenly at her exposure, as she is the new head of Sector 45.This book is told in alternating view points, from the perspectives of Juliette and Warner. I really love that Tahereh decided to tell the story this way and give us glimpse into their thoughts and everything they were feeling, as they both had so much going on, internally and externally.In the midst of everything they are already dealing with, they hit some snags in their relationship, and although I wanted them to be living happily ever after forever and ever with no problems whatsoever, the relationship problems they are facing are very realistic and its understandable that the problems in which they are facing come into play. (But they better get that happily ever after!)Due to everything Juliette and Warner are dealing with, and everything that they have endured within their pasts, they are both naturally struggling with anxiety, and I was especially drawn towards Warner’s struggles with anxiety. Everything he was feeling in regards to his anxiety was understandable, given everything he has been through in life, and the way in which his anxiety was described was just so painfully real. As someone who struggles with anxiety on a daily basis, I was very impressed with the way in which Tahereh described what its like to be suffocated by anxiety. I wanted to reach into the pages of this book and give Warner a hug.As for my thoughts on Juliette: she is wonderful and amazing and so strong and I am so proud of her for everything she has overcome and everything that she has achieved thus far and I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next. You are doing amazing sweetie, and I am rooting for you every step of the way.This book also features some of my favorite chapters/scenes from the Shatter Me series so far. The scenes I speak of all are scenes that include Warner/Juliette and Warner/Kenji.Also: Kenji is his usual wonderful, perfect self and my love for him continues to grow as the series progresses. Just wanted to throw that out there.AND THAT ENDING. I am still at a loss for words. I need the next book and I need it now!Okay, I am going to end this review here, as I know what I have written is a rambling mess and I will more than likely come back and edit the entire thing at some point. I just want it to be known that I loved Restore Me and I will be impatiently counting down the days until the release of the next book!

Complete honesty here. I almost stopped reading this halfway through. So sad considering my absolute love for the original trilogy. I still can’t believe how much I really don’t like this book. One star is a rarity for me and it breaks my heart to use it. The title of this book was such “click bait” as someone I was talking to called it. This book did nothing to “restore” any of the characters, the story or my love of this series. In fact, I’m 99% sure it has almost completely destroyed it. Honestly the only thing I can think right now is, what happened!?This book just felt like a giant ode to political correctness. Characters personalties and mannerisms were changed, whole characters were added for no apparent reason and served no real function and real depth was destroyed all in favor of not being perceived as insensitive or offensive. I’m tired of authors changing a series that was already wonderful to fit the standards of culture. This series was beloved as it was, people wanted to read the new book because they wanted a continuation of the narrative that already existed. And if Mafi wanted to add characters / change narratives, at least make them matter more than just being throw away appeasement filler.The characters I loved from the original trilogy were barely recognizable to me. The strong, confident Juliette who had learned to stand up for herself and was no longer hiding so much in her own mind is gone here. She comes across as almost near madness at times, completely defeated and a doubter. It’s like she reverted back to Juliette at the asylum but instead of still remaining kind, compassionate and considerate of others like she had before in the face of torture, hatred and struggles, she’s become harsh and unfeeling. The moment with her hair wasn’t what I think Mafi wanted it to be. It wasn’t this big, tough moment where the girl breaks free from her past. No, it was stupid, impulsive and honestly came across as an immature Juliette we left behind several books ago.I feel most sad for the complete ruin of Warner. His character was always the interesting one. The one we knew hardly anything about, which made him mysterious. But what we did know, we loved. We wanted more because under his shell was a broken boy we all loved and yet still admired for his quiet compassion and resilience in the face of it all. His unaffectedness about how the world viewed him, his utter love and belief in Juliette, his untiring strength. All of these gone with this book. He’s become an anxiety ridden, depressed, clingy person who came across as pathetic and pitiable. Things the Warner from the previous books would’ve hated to be seen as. And after three books of building him up as an unlikely hero, of shifting perspectives and seeing how he was truly a man of unexpected kindness and not heartless cruelty, he’s somehow again been made into an unsuspecting villain, by Juliette of all people. To derail the great growth of Warner’s character and the way that we as readers have come to see him, was such a shame.And their relationship together. Just wrecked. They’re only really together when they’re having sex and that just comes across as fan service, not as being written to serve any plot purpose. They don’t talk, they don’t communicate and eventually this leads to Juliette thinking he’s a massive liar and him thinking he’s lost her forever. After they’ve been together for 18 days or so. How did their relationship go from “I love you as you are” to Juliette doubting his every move? How did it go from Warner opening up about his mother’s ring and the scars on his back to him shutting her out in such a short time. That’s the unrealistic part. Wanting to create relationship drama to prolong the series isn’t something I agree with, couples can be happy and together and a series can be good. And there can be relationship struggles without a break up. And the whole “Hey”, “Hi” thing just drove me nuts. They always spoke to each other clearly before, why now can they only say two words it seems and then it’s just to jump each others bones? Where’s the mutual understanding they had developed where they knew each other in a way no else did!? Their relationship was so different from what had been established and built through the last books that I was appalled I was supposed to believe these were the same two people.As for the core Omega Point group. That whole thing was a joke. More unnecessary character deaths from another author. No expansion on Adam and Alia, which I was looking forward to. No one else gets a backstory except Kenji and his felt like a throwaway. His character just came across as “insert Kenji to lighten mood” and to be a relationship counselor for Juliette and Warner. Before he had been such a strong presence for Juliette and I adored their friendship. Now he just seems like the third wheel who no one knows what to do with. Just so much wrong. So much.The tone of this book was just depressing and dark. And no the other books weren’t light, but their darkness had a purpose. In the end, even though the characters had struggles or they faced obstacles it was all about overcoming. In this book it was nothing but defeat upon defeat upon defeat. Mental, physical, everything was defeating. It made the book a slog to get through. I realize that what some of what I loved about the original trilogy was the mystery surrounding the world and the backstories of the characters. Not everything was fully fleshed out, only little tidbits were given and I feel that is what gave the series it’s likability. You didn’t know everything. When things were revealed in the past books, it was a slow revelation to add depth to the characters or paint a better picture of the world, not a wallop across the head for shock value. The whole revelation with Juliette felt like a cheap trick and a boring one at that. I would’ve much rather had the core characters just be involved in an overall war than add even more characters, muddy the plot even further and spin off into a side dilemma that was just there for a baited cliffhanger. The original trilogy didn’t have a lot of action going on per-se, but even the small stuff then had weight to it. Even the little interactions mattered. But now it seems that things were just written to move the plot along or add unnecessary drama, not to help the narrative.Overall it felt like reading Shatter Me all over again, with the characters back at the start, having had no growth, no perspective and going a totally different path, being written by a completely inexperienced author. Nothing felt woven together, the characters weren’t the ones I’d come to love or would even want to know more about, and the world was lackluster. It read as juvenile. And none of the original trilogy read that way. I missed the beautiful poetic writing and being in Juliette’s headspace and even in Warner’s from reading Destroy Me. But here it was lifeless. Some lines had punch but again it just felt tossed in for appeasement, not because it fit or had a meaning. The other trilogy had impact and left a lasting impression because from the characters to the words on the page, everything had weight. It resonated.I’ve always tried not too gripe with a book, critique yes, but complain no. And definitely not rant. But I was so looking forward to this book. And while I try always to objective, not subjective, the emotional weight I have with being invested in this series does add a different dimension to how I view this book. If there’s one series I recommend to people, it’s this one. A character I consider to be most like myself, it’s Juliette (until now of course). So to come to a book you’ve waited a long time to see happen and only have it wreck what came before is just crushing on many levels. I still adore the original trilogy, and I’m likely going to follow along with the rest of this series just to see how it all washes out in the end. But the best way to describe how I feel after reading this book is utterly disillusioned and disappointed. And I’ve spoken to enough people to know it’s not just me who feels this way. I hope the next one is better, but I probably won’t be reading it. Sometimes a book becomes one you recommend forever and sometimes it just becomes part of a larger series you accept, and that is definitely the case with Restore Me.

I finally finished reading Restore Me and I have a lot of feelings.one: That hurt, but in the best way. Tahereh Mafi, I bow to you.two: The Warnette moments were so beautiful and tragic.three: I honestly feel that Warner and Juliette have a long and difficult road ahead. Their relationship was so new and so volatile. Juliette so inexperience, Warner so unfamiliar with feeling and the importance of communication in relationships. However, I still have faith in their relationship.four: I still love Kenji - he made all the angst bearable and he gave Warner some pretty solid relationship advice. Also, my baby has a crush.five: I needed more James, Adam and Warner - but I very much loved the few interactions we did get to witness.six: I very much enjoyed all the new characters - even that witch, Lena.seven: Castle is giving me Dumbledore-y vibes - like is he good or bad or badish?eight: That ending; OMGnine: Is my babe, Aaron, okay? He’s been through so much. He hurts so much.ten: How on earth am I supposed to wait another year for the next book and TWO years for the finale!?!Overall and awesome ride of a read and can I have the next two books now please. K, thanks!

I really enjoyed this book. it’s interesting to watch as the story unfold through letters.Really a great example illustrating the importance of mentorship. and reading the letters you really get close to the two writing these very intimate letters. its a very interesting dynamic.The part I enjoyed the most is that it gives you perspective, cause the problems the student in the book goes through as the years go by, are problems we can all kinda identify with in some way. not just poets but all kinds of artist. and then comes the experienced teacher who has dealt with it all and in some cases still is, and he shares his wisdom.The point of the book being that the journey of the artist is a universal one which we all must walk. But with shared knowledge and some help we can make it quicker and maybe avoid some of the more permanent pitfalls.Just knowing your not alone is comforting and thats why I really enjoyed this book.

Would give this a "0" stars if possible. This vendor is NOT selling the publication of Rilke's book, but has gotten the text and laid it out (probably with MS Word, horrible for layout) and done a cheap printing of it. Am I going to return it? Probably not, only because it's more effort to pack it, take it to the P.O. and mail. But I'm very angry about this book, I do publication layout professionally, and am an editor, so the extra spaces between words, the dropped punctuation, and visually awful layout is an abomination to Rilke's work. I know how they did it: they stripped the text out of an e-book, put it into Word and left-aligned, never proofed it, and sent it to China to be printed. Monstrous. Never buy from this outfit.

Whatever kind of writer or creative artist you are, Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet is a voice worth listening to. The letters were written in the early 1900s when Rilke was about 30 years old. He wrote ten letters to a young poet named Franz Kappus, offering not only advice but a philosophy on how to cultivate the creative spirit. As a fiction author with three novels out, I often get discouraged. We writers know that art and struggle go hand and hand. I’ve read all the pep blogs about following your passion and keeping the faith, recognizing the common Van Gogh blues, blah, blah, blah. Rilke’s book is such a refreshing look at why a person writes at all. He addresses doubt, loneliness vs solitude, love, and patience. This is probably one of the most impressive of books I’ve read on this subject. The thoughts in this little 100-page book is a true source and one to keep on the night stand. I love to open a page at random and see what Rilke has to say to me for the day. Page 61 told me this morning that “We must embrace struggle. Every living thing conforms to it. Everything in nature grows and struggles in its own way, establishing its own identity, insisting on it at all cost, against all resistance.” This book is for any artist who wants inspiration on how to live as an artist.

Louth's translation of Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet is a mediocre translation, does not match that of M.D. Herter Norton's (Letters to a Young Poet), whose quintessential translation must be the standard for all others of Rilke's work. You cannot see it the following pages in the Look Inside feature, but the following famous passage in Letter 8 is an excellent example. "Mr. Kappus," the young poet, might as well be us, and the passage can be read without the words "dear Mr. Kappus" and stands alone -- at least in the M.D. Herter Norton translation.M.D. Herter Norton's translation (Letters to a Young Poet), Letter 8, reads: "How should we be able to forget those ancient myths that are the beginning of all peoples? The myths about dragons that, at the last moment, turn into princesses. Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses, who are only waiting to see us, once beautiful and brave. Perhaps everything terrible is, in its deepest being, something helpless that wants help from us. So, you must not be frightened, dear Mr. Kappus, if a sadness rises up before you, larger than any you have ever seen. If a restiveness like light and cloud-shadows, passes over your hands and over all you do. You must think that something is happening to you. That life has not forgotten you. That it holds you in its hand. It will not let you fall. Why do you want to shut out of your life any agitation, any pain, any melancholy, since you do really do not know what these states are working upon you? ..."Compare this to Charlie Louth's translation of this same passage in Letter 8 (Letters to a Young Poet):"How can we forget those ancient myths found at the beginnings of all peoples? The myths about the dragons who at the last moment turn into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses, only waiting for the day when they will see us handsome and brave? Perhaps everything terrifying is deep down a helpless thing that needs our help. So, dear Mr. Kappus, you shouldn't be dismayed if a sadness rises up in front of you, greater than any you have ever seen before; or if a disquiet plays over your hands and over all your doings like light and cloud-shadow. You must think that something is happening with you; that life has not forgotten you; that it holds you in its hand; it will not let you fall. Why should you want to exclude from your life all unsettling, all pain, all depression of spirit, when you don't know what work it is these states are performing within you? ... "Note that word order in changed in by Louth to give a different meaning, and this is often the case.Also, compare to Stephen Mitchell's translation of the passage in Letter 8 (Letters to a Young Poet (Modern Library) and (Letters to a Young Poet):"How could we forget those ancient myths that stand the beginning of all the races, the myths about dragons that are at the last moment transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love. So you mustn't be frightened, dear Mr. Kappus, if a sadness rises up in front of you, larger than any you have ever seen; if an anxiety, like light and cloud-shadows, moves over your hands and over everything you do. You must realize that something is happening to you, that life has not forgotten you, that it holds you in its hand and will not let you fall. Why to you want to shut out of your life any uneasiness, any misery, any depression. since after all you don't know what work these conditions are doing inside you?...."Really, "that wants our love"? Our LOVE? No reason for this translator's license, none at all. Mitchell's translation likewise strips the Letters of poetry, and, of note, his introduction to the Letters is somewhat bizarre.If one goes further back in this letter, to Rilke's discussion of solitude, the demarcation between the beautiful and the mediocre translation is equally clear. I find M.D. Herter Norton's translation by far the most beautiful, poetic and meaningful, although reading other translations can add to the reader's understanding, or else, show the reader which translation speaks to him.On the other hand, here is an opportunity to compare, free of charge, three translations. I have chosen to confine myself to the translation by M.D. Herter Norton's of Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet, since I don't want to interrupt the flow of reading as I study these great letters, and feel it is best to choose one. It is a shame the M.D. Herter Norton translation is not currently in print in hardcover. Still, there are used copies to be found and I'd rather buy several paperback copies of Norton's than have a nice looking hardcover of a mediocre translation.

This is a lovely book on daily life in Syria, dated but still insightful. A pity it is out of print. Hopefully, it will republished soon.

This author is so sensitive towards her subjects. I really love this writer. She tackles difficult questions and situations. This is an inside story where Joris looks at situations (Syrian 'common' life) from her own perspective and she tries to do this from the country's/peoples perspective. Joris also examines herself along this perspective. Like a real journalist on one hand and like a real novelist on the other hand, in my opinion.

I am very interested in the material that Ms. Joris covers in her book. The most lasting impression however is how well she portrays the psychological weight of being a woman in the middle east. I sort of felt like I had spent 4 months in Syria after reading it. It rings true -- based on my travel experiences and lives of friends.If you liked this (or are interested in Middle Eastern women's issues) you'll probably like Nine Parts of Desire, The Price of Honor, and Memoirs from the Women's Prison (Saadawi). Generally more academic, Fatima Mernissi is a good writer.

Riveting travel memoir. Book in excellent condition.

Worthy ending to the Sparrow.I resisted this book for years. How could anything live up to The Sparrow? Oh, me, of little faith, the circle is so beautifully completed.Read The Sparrow first, and then this wonderful book takes you on the same journey as the crew of the Stella Maris, because what you think you understand, what seems obvious to you, is utterly wrong. The villains of the first piece have agendas so different from your assumptions that, after surviving the shock of the first book, you will have to rethink everything. Ms. Russell didn't lie to us, she just let us make all the wrong conclusions. Of all the ideas these books present, this feels the truest - As Fr. Sandoz says of Voelker in The Sparrow, "...It's human nature. He wanted it to be some mistake I made that he wouldn't have made." We all made exactly the same mistake at the end of The Sparrow. We thought we'd sorted it out.That the characters I so loved could come back into my life and make me cry all over again is a testament to Ms. Russell's amazing skill with a story. And her depth of knowledge in so many fields weaves a tapestry of ideas, emotions and people. Philosophy and physics, theology and revolution, genetics and music, an amazing, emotional roller coaster of sentient life and intelligent reading.Impossible to classify, these two books together cover the whole spectrum of fiction, should have their own wall at the book store. Courtroom style drama, space travel, religion, love story, communication failure and success, personal drama, time travel, cosmic misunderstandings and even an invented botany lesson or two. What a feast!In a lifetime of hungry reading, The Sparrow is my favorite book. This is the end of The Sparrow.

4 1/2 stars actually! This 2 volume set is, imo, exceptionally well thought out; and, for this reader, another crack in the cosmic egg of my world. For anyone who is in any manner committed to honest self examination, expansion, or continued personal growth, so to speak, this book (as well as "The Sparrow") accomplishes just that, and more. Aside from the story of the revolutionary, cultural, upheaval on the planet Rakhat (which is interesting enough in and of itself) the reader is almost forced to go beyond the confines of our ordinary way of looking at our own civilization. Some of us will even come to face the notion that many of us are not much more than meat or food for the ruling class.Thank you Mary Doria Russell for a most thoughtful, useful, and interesting excursion!

I too felt that the Sparrow was a good standalone book and did not need a sequel, however, the sequel did turn out to be a fine book of its own.There are many underlying moral issues to be pondered. The ethics of population control, the difficulty of avoiding negligent harm arising from sex, the tendency of intercultural contact to lead to serious harm to one or both cultures, etc.I did think more could have been done with the Earthen characters. I was waiting for a discussion as to the theology of evangelizing an alien race in the first place, but no real discussion of that ever occurred. I do believe there is indeed quite a bit to be learned of the theology of suffering and forgiveness from this story, however, I was left feeling that the ending in which Sandoz has his moment with Isaac's music was a little forced and was only there to make the ending a happier one, which isn't always the case.A great story, not quite as emotion-wrenching as the Sparrow, but a great read for anyone into sci-fi or intercultural fiction.

I just finished reading this book (after already reading the other one) then I sobbed for 15 minutes straight. Not because I disliked the book. Not so much because of sadness that it was over but more for relief... & for my own happiness at the end.I so loved reading this book as well as it's predecessor. The writing is superb, the characters so vivid & real that I felt like I could reach out & touch them. The story is so unique & well developed...I can't say enough. Why didn't I know about these 2 books before now? If you enjoy sci-fi you'll enjoy this. If you aren't into sci-fi don't worry, chances are you'll like this anyway...it's just a great story.This 2 book series has already won many accolades and so you don't need to hear me go on and on about how wonderful it is. Also I'm sure many other reviewers before me have given a detailed synopses of what the story is about. I'm sure many people have even told you who the characters are and what the plot is. So I don't need to do that.I will say this, yes the book has deep religious and spiritual themes through-out. All the main characters seem to go through real tests of the human spirit - dark night of the soul type of stuff. So it's a heavy book that makes you think just because so many topics are brought up. If you 'hate' this type of book then it may not be for you. However, I'd recommend that you get out of your comfort zone and try this. It'll be good for you to put yourself in the place of some of these characters and think about what you'd do if you were them.Wishing you the best if you choose to try out these books. They are going to the top of my Top 10 list.
