350 cards of wordy, unrecognizable, regurgitated, hard-to-read-because-the-font-is-just-way-too-small nonsense. This is not what you need to learn the KEY CONCEPTS of 1L. Believe me, there is no "flash" to these flashcards. If you really want to hurt yourself, buy a hammer and hit yourself in the head. At least the hammer is good for something else after.

print is very small. I think they tried to put to much information onto one card. However, they are right on in following the material.

I love these flash cards. There are SO many of them with so much information and I absolutely love it. Of course, this material is in the books but to have it at your fingertips, arranged in such a way that helps to maintain the knowledge and continue to learn and absorb additional useful information-its awesome. Absolutely love it!

I'm neither a civil engineer nor a construction man, but I've always liked the looks and durability of concrete items. This book is simply wonderful.The author does an excellent job of describing technical aspects of concrete's manufacture and use for the non-technician and reveals some absorbing facts. By and large this is a history of mankind's use of concrete and cement illustrated with mini-biographies of the major players ranging from hypothetical neolithic shamans through Herod, Frank Lloyd Wright, and LeCorbusier. Along the way are stories of a number of fascinating characters you have probably never heard of. It is also a summary of the technical changes in concrete over that time.Also, there are surprises. The author makes a good case that concrete is less fireproof, earthquake resistant, and long-lasting than we might imagine. Although such Roman constructions as the Pantheon have lasted without much repair for almost two millenia, most of the modern reinforced concrete constructions will be lucky to last a hundred years. The author gives a very persuasive explanation for this state of affairs.If I have any criticisms at all, they are two-fold. First, the amount of space devoted to certain personalities does not seem that correlated to their importance. As mentioned by another reviewer, the Frank Lloyd Wright section is pretty long. Second, while the author disclaims any technical expertise, he is downright polemic regarding the ways in which the concrete industry has gone wrong, and sometimes right. I think the jury is still out on some of these issues, and there are reasonable disagreements among the experts.Nevertheless, if you have any interest in concrete as a material for anything from birdbaths to skyscrapers, you should find this book a smooth and fascinating read.

Concrete Planet (2011) by Robert Courland is a decent effort at a book that looks at the history of concrete. This is clearly going to be a heavy, non-abstract book. The lessons of the book will also be reinforced. At some stage toward the end cracks may also appear.The books chapters on the discovery of concrete and it's use and development as far as the middle of C18 are really good. The way that concrete is likely to have been discovered and then was used in Ancient Rome is fascinating. The chapter on the development of Portland cement is also highly entertaining.The book's quality drops when it reaches the 20th Century. Far too much time is spent looking at Frank Lloyd Wright and not nearly enough at what concrete was being used for in the 20th century. The weird study of the construction of the Sydney Harbour Opera House is silly too. Reinforced concrete's role in the construction of skyscrapers, highways, dams, bridges and other C20 icons is really important. Falling Water isn't nearly as worthy of mention.The book finally looks at how modern reinforced concrete structures have a fairly short lifespan of about 50 years. This is worth thinking about and the book covers this well.Materials are a really neglected part of technology at least in general non-fiction. This is a worthy but flawed book that looks at a really important transforming technology. It's worth reading if you're into these things and much of the book is excellent. It's a pity the whole book doesn't attain the same standard.

The history of concrete? I know, the subject sounds about as exciting as reading an old telephone book. However there are some amazing stories within this book. For one, I did not know Thomas Edison, the electrical inventor, had anything to do with improving cement. Nor did I know that one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most beautiful houses was designed and drafted within a day. Also if you have ever been to the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and wondered about the story behind that unusual structure, that story is in this book as well. A great book. Well worth the time to read.

We are "surrounded" by Concrete, yet I knew nothing about its history. I live in North Eastern Ohio and often hike on the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath trails. I always assumed that the surviving ruins of locks and spillways built here in the 1830's were "repaired" using concrete. Thanks to this book, I now know that these were actually designed for and "made" with poured structural concrete in the 1830's....a real engineering marvel! I originally bought this as a Kindle edition, but liked it enough to buy the book for my father for Christmas.

I've been in the concrete business for over 40 years and a 3rd generation concrete finisher, form builder, and contractor. This is the best book on the history of concrete I have ever read, and I've read plenty. It should be required reading for every architect and engineering student. Great read, written in way everyone, both academic and layman can understand.

Good overview of cement history. Provoked numerous questions which is good. Is the 2000 year old Pantheon concrete cracking? Yes, no, why not. Does poz // fly ash react with liberated lime to improve long term concrete quality? How far along the technical road is truly modern, high tech concrete in achieving long term stability, non-cracking material? Nice history review via a specific technical timeline of cement development.

Although I could not put the book down, it sounds strange to say that I’m not sure how to rate it or what to say about it. I think the reason I couldn’t put it down was because I kept thinking there was going to be more to it. I loved the concept but really couldn’t understand what her connection was to some of the five. With the exception of her boyfriend/fiancé, the storyline was pretty predictable especially when it came to her father issues. The issues she had with her best friend were really immature and didn’t really make sense as to why she was invited. The professor was a big question for me too. There was never really any connection in the backstory as to his importance in her life or why we should really care. Of course, inviting Audrey Hepburn was understandable because who of us wouldn’t name someone famous as our five. All in all, the book was good but pretty depressing. I would never discourage other readers from reading it. I just found her choices, considering the backstory, a little confusing and uninteresting. The whole story was pretty depressing. I feel she didn’t leave that dinner with any real closure or life changing answers.

While the book was written well, UGH. Horrible, depressing ending, no resolution to the 'heroine's' angst, etc. OMG, such unresolved issues. I feel like throwing the book in the trash!I was intrigued because I would love to invite Audrey Hepburn to dinner, but after that... Really, an upsetting book. Had I known it was so 'soul-searching,' I would have passed...

I first saw this book at Costco. I took a picture of the jacket on my phone. I am so elated I did. This novel made me happy and sad....I enjoyed every moment. In fact, I didn't want it to end...but it did and it was lovely. You'll cry and its a good cry.

This book was an interesting read. Dream guests at a dinner party is always a great topic, and I’ll admit my love of Audrey Hepburn and love stories is what drew me to this book. The twist with the boyfriend/fiancé was a clever one, but as I turned the last pages of the book, I found myself wishing there had been more to it. It was delightful at times, predicable at others, and depressing in between. I did enjoy it, I just wish we saw a little more background to the other characters. And more Audrey Hepburn is never a bad thing.

I absolutely adore this novel, it's ending, and recommended it to all of my friends and family. It is a charming, sometimes sad novel based on the idea of inviting whomever you would like, dead or alive, to a dinner party. This novel is a quick read and would be great for a weekend trip or shorter vacation.

This book grabbed my attention from the first chapter and kept me engaged through the last sentence. It’s a beautifully written book about love, loss and family. One of my favorites of 2018!

A beautifully written book that brings together for one evening the people important to the writer’s life and unresolved issues...don’t we all have family and loved ones we wish we could connect with if even just for a final dinner?

Well written, albeit, overwhelming. The author endeavors to fully equip the reader with the necessary tools to avoid being taken advantage of in a brutal industry. However, the use of percentages (however accurate) and bland details one quarter of the way in makes this a hard read. Just the same, I admire the author's effort to be truly helpful. But at the outset, like many others, I felt the best solution was to hire Mr. Passman, as I'm sure my fellow musicians share this sentiment. Otherwise, this is the nitty-gritty of a hard business.

I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm newer to the industry as an agent, but I went ahead and read every page of this book since it definitely won't hurt learning every facet of the business. I can't remember the last time I was this excited and adamant about reading a book. I'll definitely refer back to it as my journey continues, but no matter your "stage" or "status" in the industry, do yourself a favor and read this book! And to everyone reading this in the industry and/or a musician, I wish you all the best!

You dont buy this book... YOU dont take your craft seriously. I was skeptical at first but I pulled out a highlighter because it was to much good information. Wish it was in audio book format U Must buy this & its the current version. I am not being paid to say this nor have I met the author its just real ish.

Passman's book covers everything, right up to the new changes of the digital revolution that is taking place as I type...I have read some other books and taken a course on EdX on the music business. This book is an excellent introduction to the clauses found in contracts, the negotiating points of contracts, the big picture of the music business, the options that artists have besides trying to sign with a major record label, and most importantly, what you can expect from each option that is out there.This book makes clear the economics of the music business right now and how much money is out there for artists, where the money comes from, and whether and when (if) you can expect to get it.It is written in clear language for everyone. Great read.

I really enjoyed this read! Very informative and educational. The music business can be a beast. So arm yourself with this most important weapon when taking on the industry. It covers pretty much everything I think a beginner in the business should know. From start to finish it is vital information. Whether it be management or artist development and general structure. It leaves nothing be questioned. I was just starting out when I bought this book and now I'm more than confident of what I need to do to get to the next level of my musical career. It's a must-have as far as I'm concerned. To be great at anything requires preparation and proper instruction of proven techniques from those who have done it successfully. This book is a great example of that! Now I know the biz! That's what's up!

Let me tell you why because I believe that Passman's version provides you some quality, needed information from a business perspective and it is a little more technical and can be difficult to read while Kashif's version is much easier to read but offers advice from an artist perspective. I've read both books and both perspectives and can see the value from both sides. You will be a much wiser and equipped artist, musician, engineer, publisher, songwriter, etc if you learn everything you can about the industry and pick up a copy of both.This book is highly recommended.

An important absolutely necessary book. A great and humorous read. This is the 4th edition of the book that I've purchased how ever it's the 1st that I've purchased from Amazon. It's a must read by a must read author. He's a high powered entertainment attorney, Donald Passman. Passman manages many high powered recording artist's careers, and these are big names that you would recognize. Donald knows from many years of practicing law in the music industry, just what he's talking about, and he writes in everyday common terminology, not legal terminology, which makes this book an entertaining and easy read. It reads like a conversation. It also contains just about everything anybody would need to know about the music business. I've gotten every new edition because the music business keeps changing and I want to keep up on every change. This particular book came to me in excellent condition. Cudos to the book store that sold it to me. And it came quicker than they said it would quicker than expected.

This one skirted the edge of comfort for several reasons.First of all, even though it is a typical Felice Stevens scenario--meant-to-be-lovers held back by paranoia--it took me a while to get to like Jeremy and Blake.Second, there is a hole in the narrative when it comes to the real reason behind Blake losing his job. To me it reeked of homophobia but it never got explained.Third, there is more of an emphasis on the sex in the relationship than in her previous books, and it leads to a feeling that Jeremy and Blake are a bit shallow.It's up to the supporting characters--especially Jeremy's brother Noah from the previous book in the series, the brilliant "One Call Away," plus in a backhanded way their mother, as well as Blake's sister. There is also an on-going potential romance that Jeremy encourages among two of his employees of his gym, and that might mean that there's another book coming.Still, Ms. Stevens' beautiful use of the language, her inherent understanding of the things that make New York City and its suburbs work, help this one along through some tough spots.Jeremy was a bit one-dimensional for a while in the beginning of the book, and then Blake because a total idiot in the second half. The reasons are eventually explained and exploited but sometimes you feel like you really want to smack them around.Until some people talk sense into them and it's ok.

Although both of the guys have insecurities that make their romance a challenge, Blake lacks so much self-confidence that I wished he would get counselling. It is a lovely romance, but at times living through Blake's lack of confidence and insecurities was hard and almost tedious, but if it felt like that to me, poor Blake must have been really crippled. Two imperfect people find their way through to a perfect, happy relationship. The development of the characters was good and I'm glad they got their HEA. HOWEVER, I think the scumbags at the CPA firm got off too easily. I would have liked to see them audited or something. Worth the read.

Jeremy and Blake have their ups and downs in this story. Not every relationship is actually perfect and while Blake and Jeremy have their issues they seem to be as close to Perfect as they can be, at least for each other.I love the way Felice introduces her characters and develops the relationships. From the very beginning where Blake and Jeremy meet I find myself wishing for them to find happiness in each other and Felice delivered.I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing what Felice has in store for us in the neat future.

I wanted Blake and Jeremy's book while I was reading One Call Away, which is Jeremy's brother Noah's story. It was intriguing as Jeremy was kind of hush hush about his relationship with Blake.The story of Blake and Jeremy is an intense one. I love how slow they start, how you get to see their relationship gradually grow until they lose it all.I hated seeing Blake go through all he did, his insecurity was crippling and my heart ached for both him and Jeremy as they loved each other so much, yet couldn't help each other.Felice Stevens always writes these heart wrenching, heart warming novels that I think about days on end. Perfect is no exception. These characters were flawed. They were anything but perfect and that made this book just perfect.

I gave it two stars because there were no errors , but I had a heck of a time finishing it. It was so whiney. My father said I was worthless so when I get fired I don't tell my partner and I break up with him. Whine. My mother never said she loved me, so do you only love me for my looks ? Because I'm smart too. Whine. Wash, rinse, repeat... over and over again. If I would have been reading an actual book it would have been thrown against the wall, but thank goodness I held on to my tablet. Sorry, the book was annoying.

Felice Stevens always delivers a love story that takes you on a genuine journey, with its highs & lies, lows & blows and with 'Perfect' she's delivered another wonderful romance. Ultimately it's about two men connecting and finding each other in the storm and I genuinely enjoyed Jeremy & Blake's story. I could have gotten frustrated with both mens insecurities however these were at the core of their relationship, as it is for most people. I appreciated Jeremy's fight for Blake all the more for it - a much deserved #HEA

This was an amazing book and I absolutely loved it. Jeremy and Blake make such a cute couple even with all the issues that arise in the book. I loved all the Easter eggs throughout the book and I can't wait to see what comes next. Felice did a great job with this book.

Jeremy and Blake’s story is very profound and everyone could learn a lot about themselves and being proud of who they are.Did I mention how sexy this book is.
