As always Jeff Kinney delivers. My students (many who don't like to read) couldn't wait for this book to come out. I have never had any other book/author/series that has been able to get SO many students reading. Not only that but it's been 3rd-5th graders, at all different reading levels that are willing to read this, and love this. They can't wait for the "next Diary of a Wimpy Kid book" to come out. They constantly ask for it. Then to make things even better, almost ALL of them COMPREHEND the book! This series, is a win, win. This book within the first 2-3 days was passed around to at least 3-4 students, that's how fast it was read!

Well, I don't love it, but my 12 year old does. Easy reading for him, but it keeps him entertained and is not watching TV. He has read all of the series books multiple times and will read this one again as well.

In for a penny, in for a pound I suppose. Yeah, I know, these are kid's books but if one has read the first 11 and has a sophomoric sense of humor like mine, firmly based in a prepubescent lad's mindset then obviously one is going to grab this. Interesting the number of folks who have commented that this is the worst in the series when 90% of the reviewers list it as 5 stars. Put me in the laudatory category since I think it is the funniest one yet. His first plane trip reminded me of mine at the same age (well, I actually flew cross country on a Constellation at 18 months old but don't really think that counts) with the added dimension of the "joys" of the current state of air travel - security lines, crammed planes, that horrible feeling when you think you are going to have a whole row to yourself and just as the door is about to close a couple with a toddler shows up to snatch the two empty seats, etc.. His response to the resort his parents have chosen as the family Christmas gift is the same one they went to on their honeymoon is classic. A tad different with 3 kids in tow! Cracked me up when I came across some old photo Christmas cards my sister set up with her kids underwater since one element of this story is the mother attempting to get a great family shot for next year's card. Don't forget to check out the drawings as some of the funnier elements are revealed there. Like most in this series, an enjoyable break from my more serious reading.

It wasn't my favorite book of the series but it was ok it was funny at times and some parts were like yeah right . I didn't hate it

Greg has ro skip Christnas to go to "luxury" and "paradise" or whatever. But it turns iut the add they saw for the trip was false and it ripped them off. Lots of funny problems and interactions. Very Good Read for kids and let me include adults too.

This author has trapped my son to only wanting to read his books because they are that good. For a kid who acts like its a chore to read, he will devour these books in one evening. Its addictive and my son will RE-READ the books too and share it with classmates. Keep up the good work because in our house this authors rocks. Thanks for being such as talented writer. All the kids in our circle loves these books. Because we get 1-2 books a year, it would be great if someone can recommend other authors with Jeff's writing style?

As expected, it's another book full of family fun. The part where Greg thinks that he swallowed a seahorse is hilarious. My daughter kept laughing all the time. We wish that Greg never graduates because that way we will always have really fun and exciting stories to read.

Vacation in Paradise gone wrong. Very entertaining. Not quite as funny as the other books in the series, but still a very good contribution

Great!

I had to look quite a bit to find what I thought would be a good history graphic novel. I had just finished Buddy Levy's great book on Cortes, so was inspired to share the story with my 2 boys. This is not the best graphic novel out there (not that bad either), but Cortes' story is absolutely incredible, and this book conveys that well enough. My kids have dozens of books that they no longer look at, but this one comes back off the shelf now and again to be re-read and enjoyed.

This book is hard to get, but I was disappointed with the condition of the book. It was obviously used with bent edges.

The first thing that seperates this young readers book from others is the innovative format. By comparison books like Columbus & Cortez: Conquerors for Christ or Hernan Cortes (Groundbreakers: Explorers) are not as "entertaining". The key is the presentation but staying true to giving the historical overview for young historians. The book is part of a series that literally and graphically bring the subjects to life. The series deals with major figures in world history that have changed or shaped contemporary and future societies. In this book, on the life of Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes, the authors give an explanation of the times in which the man lived and than jump into a graphic novel-comic book format detailing the conquest of Mexico. The first few pages is traditional in the sense that the subject is presented in short summaries of major events, such as, describing the Aztec Empire and the role of explorers and settlers. The heart of the book is the conquest which, as stated is a short graphic novel. Cortes's life and conquest is reduced to 35 pages of "comics" that are beautifully illustrated in color. The major events of the conquest, such as La Noche Triste, are covered, battles and the death of Cuautemoc, as well as the aftermath of the conquest are explained in simple terms and graphially for the young historian. If your child or student is a reluctant reader this book offers a good alternative while still providing a reading experience. Likewise if the student finds history "boring" than this book should help in that regard. This book is intended for 4th or 5th graders but would work well with middle school children. It would also be very beneficial for students whose first language is not English. The book also includes a glossary and a who's who section that explains who the major players are. I would highly recommend this book for middle school and community libraries or for parents who are inclined to buy books for their children.

"Don't get me wrong," says a woman from the year 1520. I doubt that people 500 years ago used that expression.

I wouldn't recommend this book to children. It doesn't tell the whole truth and is biased. There are better books than this on this topic.

Amazing book! I have a Ph.D. in Mythology and I've read so many books on this subject matter over the past 20 years. It was refreshing to read a brilliant and insightful perspective and learn so much. This book offers a sweeping history of the world and pays great tribute to the poetic imagination. I have never read such a clear and cohesive account of the history of subjective human experience through the ages. A must-read!

I have always been interested in European mysticism and Secret Societies. However, the literature in such areas seems to either range from being so dense and Academic that it is unreadable to being little more than some New Age guru's quickly written and poorly researched little promotional piece. If such societies are really that secretive or didn't really exist at all, this book is nothing more than a complete lie from beginning to end, but what a wonderfully creative and mind opening tale it is. Real or imagined (and what do we all truly know for sure anyway), this text is just outright fun and thought provoking. I bought the paperback version and have read it previously. It is now on my kindle, and I often return to it again and again. If you, in fact, believe that the Soul and the Imagination are one and the same, I would say that this text lives up to that in so many ways. Call me strange, but I find my houseplants reaching out toward the bed where I sleep now. Perhaps, we all were once plant material as the myths presented here suggest. On the other hand, isn't the power of all religion in the metaphor and not something that can be seen in concrete form?

I had originally purchased the paperback edition a year ago but returned it when I saw an illustrated edition was due out later. I received the book a few days ago and I'm just disappointed. For one, the bibliography section with the author's references was removed from this book so I can't research his sources. Second, there are printing errors and smudges in the book from my attached photo.I was really looking forward to this book and now I am just let down by it. Content is great so far but the overall production of the book is poor quality.

Though a little dense in parts, this book reflects the astonishing background to the otherwise flat historical landscape we generally see. Intriguing, at times hard to swallow, but heartfelt, it raised the reader's awareness to consider that there may, indeed, be 'forces' beyond normal sight at work in the evolution of humankind. Not an easy read, but definitely accessible. Relevant and worth the significant investment of time.

A fascinating book, will take a long time to read (almost 600 pages).If you're interested in mythology, religion, the ancient world etc., you will enjoy reading this.

I never knew there was so much I didn't know about religion and the history of the world. The book has brought many aspects together beautifully though I still feel I need to explore more to understand better

This is the second one I bought as the first one I lent out never found it's way back to me. I guess they must of loved the read as much I as I did. The book is even better the second time around. Highly recommend getting The Sacred History as well...

This book perfectly fills the gap between very basic bonds 101 and the full on textbooks that are writen by Frank Fabozzi. I don't know of any other book that fits so well in that gap, and I've looked. It's completely approachable if you have no bond knowledge, but it goes deep enough into investment strategy to be helpful.When I moved from being a stock broker to a bond broker my boss recommended I start with reading this book in addition to the in house training. I already had a financial background and understood all of the bonds 101 information. This book quickly got me up to speed on the bond market and various trading strategies.While a good portion of the book is preaching the all bond portfolio, you don't have to buy into that belief to get an extreme value from this book. It is definitely worth the money. I highly recommend it.

This is the best book on bonds I've found so far. The authors clearly are deep believers in the power of predictable payments from bonds. If you want the most bullet proof portfolio possible to avoid losses of any kind, then this book will show you how to build it.Although I'm not sold on the need to make an all bond portfolio, that doesn't mean I can't use the techniques in here to build the bond portion of my account. It seems to gloss over the price of inflation in their case studies section. It's fine and dandy to show a 1,000,000 portfolio making 5% in bonds for the next 15 years till maturity, but when you take 2% inflation into account then you're really only able to spend 3% a year, or 30k off of a $1mil account or lose purchasing power every year. I think that's overly conservative.Use this book to figure out how to make a bond ladder to plan out your next 5-7 years of withdrawals from your retirement account. then let the rest run in S&P index funds so you don't need to have any fear of how you'll pay your bills if we encounter a stock market correction and you'll be all set.

I am finally free of the stock market casino. Built a CD ladder before buying this book and this book explains why that was smart and how I can improve my ladder. Invested through 1987, 2000 and 2008 stock market downturns and realized I cannot handle the volatility when I see my hard earned savings evaporate. If you want to gamble, go to a real casino and have fun. I now can plan for cash flow for real expenses, not hope and pray. I swear the Richelsons wrote the book just for me. I can handle the fixed income risks way easier than the stock market. Buy this book and start investing with peace of money.

I wanted to learn more about bonds (I only had a basic knowledge), so I bought this book. It delivered: It gave me a good overview of bonds, and certainly piqued my interest to learn more.In short, it is a good intro book on bonds, and if you want to learn about this area, this book will deliver.Some points:- You will learn a LOT about bonds -- perhaps more than you may even want to know. But it's largely readable.- I would like to see it updated to 2011, post the financial crisis. It was last updated in 2007, so I would be curious if the authors had anything more to add after the debacle, and given the fact that interest rates are currently practically non-existent.- Some of the sentence structure was confusing. I am literate, but sometimes I found myself scratching my head. So if you find yourself in the same position occasionally, you are not alone. It's not a major problem, however.- This book is built around the premise of a "100% bond portfolio". This is not necessarily a bad position for the lazy investor. However, there are arguments in favor of equities, especially around investing in equity funds using some basic market timing methods (as outlined, for example, in All About Market Timing, Second Edition (All About Series). Perhaps the answer is somewhere in the middle. I really don't know, as I'm still learning myself. It's worth noting that you can still ignore the "100% bond" argument and get a lot out of this book.- Their explanations of bond funds (which the authors seem to dislike) are a bit confusing -- sometimes recommending them, other times not.- I suppose it would have been nice if they'd simply given a straightforward prescription of what to buy and not buy. Yes, that's pretty lazy, but in the bond market, the breadth of choices is staggering (no exaggeration) and to just have a simple guideline would have been appreciated. At some point, the investor can get more sophisticated, but right now, I am still a bit dizzy about the choices of agency bonds vs. treasuries vs. general obligation muni bonds vs. school bonds vs. revenue muni bonds vs. corporate bonds vs. UITs, ETFs, open-ended bond funds, stable value funds, etc., etc. (you get the picture).In summary, if you want a good overview of bonds, this book will do it. I'm sure there are other books which do an equal or better job, but if you're tired of reading reviews on Amazon.com to find what is a good introductory bond book to buy, then just click Buy and get this one.

Page 3 - over population and page 4 - says to neuter or spay. Basically every reason you have to breed is frowned upon. Suffice to say. I’m sending it back. How tacky.

This is a good book for the "matter-of-fact" reference for any breeder. It has useful information on what to expect when breeding (even when it's accidental) and any situation that may come up. The only disadvantage is it doesn't have much information on the business-side of breeding for start-up or running.

While I have had dogs my entire life, I have never bred them before. My Vet was vague with information so I sought out my own sources. I purchased a couple books and spent many hours on the internet trying to educate myself. This book had all the information I needed and more. Our puppies were born 3 days ago and I have been able to handle everything that has come along. I now feel confident in continuing to take care of these newborn pups and their mom. Any time I have a question I just reread the section it was discussed in. If there is one book to have on hand for a breeding dog -- this is it. In fact this is the ONLY book I will ever need!

I bought this book specifically to review the whelping section for clients who are beginner breeders ( at least on the female side, they have always had stud dogs) and found direct, succinct advice that was easy to read. This is a great reference for beginners/novice breeders, but make sure that you contact your veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns, and let them know what materials you are reading.

This is a great start! My boyfriend and I are going to breed our chocolate lab and this really helped us figure out how to get started. It doesn't get incredibly specific but it's perfect for an amateur looking to go pro!

This book wasn't as "complete" as I expected from the title. It was a great book, covered almost all aspects of breeding. However it was pretty much a book of breeding basics...just the bare minimum information on each subject. I would have liked a deeper more comprehensive study. I did not personally gain much. I'd recommend this for beginners and those that really don't know much about breeding and just need somewhere to start.

This book is an excellent resource for new breeders as well has a helpful guide to more seasoned breeders. It contains valuable information on pre-pregnancy issues and considerations as well as extremely useful information regarding the whelping and post-whelping processes. Diagrams and pictures also help readers understand specific processes and events, especially concerning the whelping process. This book is not written to educate readers regarding the breeding process of specific breeds and is an excellent resource for general information. The author writes in a clear and concise manner and the book is organized well enough to use as a quick reference in a hurry. Additionally, the book is not antagonistic nor does it contain personal bias' as many other books on this topic seem to. The author is very straightforward and gives clear information backed by fact without offering opinion or incessant diatribe. The books' organization also allows readers to pick it up and read about specific topics as necessary rather than requiring a cover-to-cover reading experience.

This is a great book! I have learned so much from it. It is written in easy to understand format. So informative as well. I have yorkies and I was breeding one of them for the first time. I was so unsure of what to do, as I am an amateur at this game...laughing. This book helped me to understand so much and removed all my worries that I wouldn't do things right. Well....apparently I did! My baby girl, Crissi, is having Mama some babies! I am so excited I just cannot wait...they will be born October 25th, my brother's birthday...may he rest in peace...and they will be just in time for Christmas puppies! I can truthfully say that had it not been for the information I learned from this book, I would not have decided to breed my girls. I was so afraid, but this book staightend that out! I recommend it to ANYONE who is new at breeding, and even ones who do breed. A friend of mine who has breeding yorkies for almost 15 years.... and she even learned from this book!!! Kudos to the author and thanks so much for relieving my fears of breeding small dogs. Now my other girl, "Princess AnnaBelle" has come into season, so more puppies will be coming soon. Thanks, a million times over!!! Great Author...I would give him TEN STARS!!!!!
