Constance E. Bagley is a Senior Research Fellow at Yale School of Management, where she was formerly Professor in the Practice of Law and Management and a Senior Research Scholar at Yale Law School. This is an excellent book. I am a licensed attorney and practice corporate and securities law for a living. The Entrepreneur's Guide to Business Law is a great book, written in language accessible to everyone.

This covers the basic fundamentals of starting a business. From formation to exit, and important issue in between. Keep in mind that this is not a step by step guide or technical book. It is a primer on the broad issues that affect a business.

One of the most important books to read if you are seeking the entrepreneurial career.

I am a voracious book reader. Almost to the point of obsession. I have thousands, in all different genres and formats. This book is in my top 5 all time favorite books ever, which says a lot!! Do yourself a favor though and get a hardcover copy, it add to the experience. :-DFor my review, I won't get into the actual story line or historic facts VS. mythology and fiction (many reviewers have already gone that route). I want to express my overall impressions of this book, because the feelings this book evoked caused 10+ rereads!The writing in this book is incredible. It sucks you right into the time period and character's minds. You really feel you're there with them experiencing everything. There is historical accuracy mixed in with fiction, little elements like clothing and food that are woven throughout the story in a way that's not tedious to read, but adds to the feel of the book. It's like stepping into a time machine. The interpersonal relationships are masterful and you really become part of the story. When you think of King Arthur myths, this is the type of story you envision. One that makes you question your beliefs about magic, mystery, and humanity -- that in my mind is perfect historical fiction. The author poured her heart and soul into this book, and it shows on every single page.Bottom line, it's not a book ... it's an experience.

I’ve always been a sucker for King Arthur. In between my Robin Hood phases as a kid, I went through reams of stories about Camelot. And in college, I happily hiked around the ruins of Tintagel in Cornwall (supposedly the place of Arthur’s birth). But Marion Zimmer Bradley’s The Mists of Avalon was something new for me: the King Arthur legend from the perspectives of important women in his life, namely Igraine, his mother; Viviane, his eldest aunt; Morgause, his youngest aunt; Gwenhwyfar (a.k.a. Guinevere), his wife; and Morgaine (a.k.a. Morgana), his half-sister.Morgaine is the main protagonist. And unlike in most retellings, she’s not an evil sorceress. Instead, she’s an initiate of Avalon, a mythical island that’s home to a sect of Goddess worshippers trying to stave off Christianity’s growing influence over Britain. Bradley includes the familiar love triangle between Arthur, Gwenhwyfar, and Lancelet (a.k.a. Lancelot), but the contest of religions is the core struggle in The Mists of Avalon. Viviane, Lady of Avalon when the story begins, places Arthur on the throne so that he may serve his Christian and non-Christian subjects alike. But Gwenhwyfar convinces him to become ever more Christian, and Viviane and Morgaine consider this conversion a betrayal of the oaths he swore to win the crown. In the years that follow, Avalon sets itself against Camelot and grows intolerant in kind.Not everyone is as narrow-minded about religion, however. Morgause has little use for gods or goddesses, while the druidic Merlins (plural, in this version) believe all deities are one. Such a diversity of viewpoints is also present in how Bradley portrays the different spheres of influence available to women in her historical fantasy of early Britain. In Avalon, Morgaine and Viviane lead a matriarchal society. In the North, Morgause defies convention and rules as a queen who takes lovers as she wills. But in the South, Igraine and Gwenhwyfar (mostly) accept their priests’ advisements that they should be content to stay in their castles and make children and clothing for their husbands.The overall story is more philosophical than I’m used to for a tale of King Arthur. It’s also slower; The Mists of Avalon spans generations and glosses over the usual knightly contests and heroic deeds. But if you want a Camelot that makes you think, Bradley’s seminal work is worth a read.

I have read this novel a couple of times now and each time it is more rich. It is very long, but there aren't any parts that ever feel like filler, to me. It is an interesting reexamination of a classic branch of mythology, and a from a different point of view. The novel is from the perspectives of the female cast members: Morgaine, Gwenhyfar, Igraine, and Viviane, called the lady of the lake as the leader of the priestesses of the Goddess on the island of Avalon. As such, there is a strong dialogue about the role of women in the time in which the drama unfolds, and an interesting comparison to some earlier civilizations whose primary deities were female. These elements: the role of women in society, particularly in relation to the position of prevailing religious beliefs, and gender roles loom larger than the development of the core story with which most people are familiar. For some, this may be a detriment but I find it is the true merit of the novel and makes the fundamental material on which it is based more interesting.

I continued to read much further than I would normally do with a book that didn't capture me. I won't say the entire book was bad, and there were parts that were actually interesting, I'm just very disappointed. I've wanted to read this for years.First off, the time line is rather difficult to follow. It jumps ahead so quickly and frequently that it becomes nearly impossible to keep track. The hatred and vitriol that rolls off of Gwenhwyfar (don't get me started on some of the name spellings). Judging Morgaine and finding ways in which to blame everyone but herself for the bad things she does. Really all the women are whiny little children that are stomping their feet because they don't get their way. Stabbing one another in the back almost ceaselessly.I made it about halfway through the fourth "book" before I just finally couldn't take it anymore. And that was with a break to read another book.

But people either forget or ignore the children who have to live in such harried circumstances, forced to take on adult responsibilities before they are old enough to tie their own shoes. Such was the life of this author. She tells her remarkable story of growing up under the most difficult of circumstances in the 1960's. An incredible story that demonstrates the resiliency of the human spirit. The author tells her story with grit. We feel the pull of emotions as she tells us what it was like to live in an environment that was an illusion of normal. Living in poverty with a mother who suffers with mental illness, an emotionally abusive father, and a tenacious brother, she not only survives, but learns to thrive. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. An important read for anyone who works with children.

Written in the first person, from childhood recollections, this is one of the books we like to pretend never happened. Surely, this is all a novel. This never happened. Just as the family spent effort pretending life behind their door was normal, those of us outside put effort into pretending we see nothing....walk on by. As the book progressed, the main thing that alarmed me was the father, who was apparently almost as disturbed as his wife. The resilience of the human spirit shines through the two young people as they survive, and learn to thrive. More than anything else, what it proves is an abusive, insane environment doesn't always produce abusive, insane people.

It is very difficult to put this book down...you want to know what happens to this little girl , and you feel the need to protect her.The Author opens her heart to show us how since the tender age of four this little girl has to cope with a schizophrenic mother and an abusive father. I applaud this author for shutting up the silence about abusive home environments. There are many triggers in this book for me which I think is a good thing. We should never be complacent about children's suffering but do whatever we can to minimize this. Mental illness is a tricky one because society is geared toward towards helping the 'patient.' It is my experience that in many cases the innocent bystanders need assistance often even more so. Eloquently written and I hope and pray that this book will travel all the right places far and wide to make a positive difference in tormented households.

Heartfelt and at times heartbreaking, the author tells of growing up with a mentally ill mother and controlling, abusive father.Far too often, people deny or refuse to acknowledge certain "issues" in life. The Christian community is extremely guilty of this. As a Christian and child who grew up with abusive behavior, I beg you not to ignore the message of this book.Children suffer and are traumatized for life. Yes, having a personal relationship with Christ and getting counseling teach you how to deal with your past. But scars remain.This well written book will help open your eyes and educate you on some of what abused children live through and how it shapes their lives.

Linda, does indeed have the gift of storytelling. I couldn't put the book down but not only that, I was inspired by the author's courage to share this story, her story! I was also convicted. May I never be like the adults, in the story, that were aware of her tragic home life but never did anything to help.

I enjoyed reading this memoir, a story that allows the reader to pull back the curtains of the author's childhood home to glimpse her pain, loneliness, growth and eventual triumph. I cried for the little girl, helpless and confused by her father's intense anger and her mother's incapacitating mental illness. I cried for the child and rooted for the teenager who refuses to be held back. As she matures, the author acknowledges her extended family, her faith and one extremely, devoted feline. I look forward to reading more by Linda Schoonover.

Summary: As a lover of Make Magazine, and a love/semi-hate relationship with littlebits, this book misses the mark. It reiterates everything that has been frustrating about littlebits. Littlebits are for kids, they need kidlike tutorials. Adults don't need a book to point them in the direction of the littlebits website. I reiterate the other reviewer, this is an advertisement for littlebits. Not for someone that currently owns them and is looking for basic knowldege and project tutorials.In Depth: It explains the basics of each module (kind of on a level for 8 year olds, but written more for adults). That is okay, but I assume that they will then give me basic projects. There are less than 10 projects in the book, none of which are cool, and only half that are basic. After they describe the basic premise of the modules it then shows you a project where you use a laser cutter. Huh? If you don't know how these bits work, you do not own a laser cutter.We own dozens of little bits, and the worst part about little bits is their project tutorials. Kids need to walk through some basic projects, and then use their creativity to make their own. Their website is terrible to search, and the tutorials are even worse. This book points you in the direction of their website for these projects. THERE ARE NO STEP BY STEP TUTORIALS IN THIS BOOK.

I had high hopes for this book and pre-ordered it. It would be a good guide for someone to create curriculum for teaching LittleBits, but there is almost nothing in the book that isn't already available on the LittleBits website. I was hoping for a book full of projects and creative ideas. I was very disappointed.

I am an adult hobbyist and I new to littleBits. I have been building robots most of my life so I know something about electronics. I thought this book might be a great reference to have, but after reading some of the reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed though, I think this book is great and I refer to it a lot.It goes into a lot of detail about how each of the Bits works and there are lots of examples. I found it especially helpful in setting up the CloudBit from the Smart Home Kit that I had initially purchased. I also purchased the Arduino Coding Kit and again this book was very helpful in getting the Arduino Bit set up. I have never used an Arduino before and the book goes over the basic commands for controlling the inputs and outputs as well as providing example code. I didn't have any problems and have been happily testing out the Arduino Bit to see what it can do.The book seems to be very well written and I would recommend it for anyone young or old who wants to get into littleBits.

I was not happy with this purchase. It was very elementary, and not very informative. A person could open a littleBits package and get more information than this book. Besides how poorly it's written, it's to expensive for what you get.

This book is an advertisement for "little bits" electronics, not much in it but how he built his little bits design

Where to begin? Well, this was a collection of letters that were found after a group of patients disappeared. I sit in the middle with the book. On one side, the editing could have used a lot of work. And I'm not talking about Looney toon talk that would have fit in the story, nope, I'm talking about periods missing, quotations in the wrong place, huge gaps in sentences, not enough gaps. It was hard to get through the story when I kept running into those issues that could have been easily fixed if it was properly edited. Upon doing research I found this was a work of fiction, no truth to it. So I felt the author lacked in selling the characters. Now, the stories were good of what these individuals had to endure but I didn't buy the writing style as their own. I think the author could have taken it a little further, which she did with one of the stories. But the lack of individuality didn't work for me and made me all too happy to finally finish it.

Well it is a two part book, hopefully there is the second book but I wish they had told me. I hate to hang. Now my daughter is 23 and she is better educated and thought it was perfect the way it was and that it did end.To me I don't know what happened next. To her it was a metaphor or something about mental health or politics or ??.Now it's a series of letters from various inmates of an insane asylum who are hating the newest and most extreme administrative personal.I run a small hotel in Colorado and I actually set my alarm a half hour early so I could finish this story. It's a slim little book (the type was easily read even without my glasses) So it really should have five stars except I'm annoyed about the ending.

This is clearly a self-published novel. The editing is very poor in some places--there are actual page numbers left in from the manuscript or first edition. There are also a lot of irregular capitalization practices Thatcher Nalley needs to fire her editor. Those are very elementary, pathetic, shameful errors. There are places with spelling and grammatical errors--however, you have to take into account that the "chapters" are supposed to be "LETTERS"--and how many people have perfect spelling, grammar, and capitalization all the time in their writing? A quick scan of your Facebook news feed should point out that very few people do. And the people who have complained that the errors are so poor that they can't finish the book are either drama queens or have severe OCD. The errors are noticeable but not that bad. You can understand the story just fine despite the errors. The book does seem to end "suddenly"--but if you'll notice, this is listed as BOOK ONE. There's supposed to be a sequel, which would take care of the "unfinished" ending. There are two things that I think would add to the book. The first is use of different fonts for each "chapter" or "letter" to make them look more like actual letters. The second is a list of "patients" and "staff" to help readers keep track while reading. Overall, a VERY interesting read and an engaging story. You may need some interest or experience in the mental health field to really be drawn in.

Picked up this book while trying to get back in the habit of reading daily. Psychology has always been a subject that interests me. This book in particular was a fun read. It is set up as a collection of letters from mentally ill patients. This style does very well in putting you in those patients heads as you read through the stories of how they ended up in the hospital as well as their daily living situation. A good quick read for someone like myself who posses a short attention span.

For anyone who can relate to problems in your family growing up, this book is for you. I felt for each and every person while reading their letters. Could not put the book down. There was a couple issues with some of the words printed incorrectly, but that was on the publisher. I cannot believe they allow books to go to print with out first reading the entire book. Great read. Can't wait for book 2.

I was under the assumption when buying this book that it was non-fiction. Upon further research, it is definitely not. The actual writing itself is poor. Grammar and punctuation is a mess. I feel that the story line was also poorly executed. With all that being said, I still couldn't put it down. Each patients' letter that was introduced, I had to finish their story. I feel that if the book was truly nothing more that just the patients' letters about their personal life experiences, the book would have been much better. Adding the whole aspect of everyone going missing was a little too much and honestly was not even a crucial part of the story. It is a super quick read, only 132 pages.

Pretty interesting read. I actually got this as a gift for someone very into these types of stories. They said it was grim and hard to stomach certain parts and made them feel melancholy with the stories. I read it after and agree. Can finish in a day if you are like myself, an avid reader. Hard to hear such sad tales :( Especially the young woman in the beginning. Worth the quick read

This book is very difficult to rate. These are letters from individuals to family, etc., written while the individuals were incarcerated in a particular state mental institution. The letters are not easy to read, photos of the individuals and some personal items left behind are included; some of the patients were incarcerated for over 50 years. Having been an RN in a lock up ward I found the letters fascinating, and the backgrounds of these folks really complex and interesting, HOWEVER it is a sad and difficult read and NOT for everyone. I think you would have to be interested in the history of the mentally ill, and even then it is a very illuminating commentary on how we treated the mentally ill in the 1930s and forward, at least until most of the state institutions were torn down and drugs came into use. Lives wasted, brutality, sadness, lost souls. Left me with insight into how these folks became locked up, what their lives were like (non lives), and the book is well put together, photos are fascinating, and letters carefully chosen but again - the book is not for everyone.
